Spotlight Buddha and I teamed up (along with another) for an interesting time - one night, two sites (stay tuned for the derelicts of St. James town).
This is how we ended the night: we climbed every step of this thing. All 50 floors of a(n admittedly short) skyscraper, still under construction. It took us about 1.5 hours to get up - in large part because we took time to go and explore the building while we were at it.
For the most part, the lower floors are uninteresting: condo apartments being put together, but I'd love to go back and do some more photo work at those windows.
After floor 30 though, the place becomes a playground: wide-open spaces, the grit and grime of unfinished structures.
The views from the roof were pretty good, unspoiled by other skyscrapers getting in the way. It's a great place to take pics of the city, if you've got better camera gear than I have.
** never use the gallery builder. Ever.
1: Elevator shaft, seen from B1
2: Somewhere between floors 10 and 20, a decent look out the windows.
3: I like fresh copper, 'nuff said.
4: Looking down from an open balcony, somewhere around the 30th floor
5: View south
6: view north
7: We should've turned back at that point, but didn't.
8: Floor 48 is the last one that was marked.
9: One of us perched with the city spread below (somewhere around floor 40 I think)
10: The base of the crane from across the roof
11: View of the city lights from across the roof
12: The crane!
13: This is how skyscrapers are built - that thing is holding tonnes of concrete.
14: this way out.
