Lol I deal with this on a day to day basis, We swapped an engine on an A4 and 3 months later the client came back sayign we sabotaged the heater core. According to her the dealer physically checked it and Scanned the heater core and we had purposely blocked it. Nothing to do with 14 years of calcium build up or anything.....

$400 for ball joints on a Mercedes is a pretty damn good deal. Though I will say, the shop that I go to, the tech will bring you into the bay and show you what's wrong. With a ball joint, he'd have it on the lift and jiggle it and show you the play in it.

Another client (again with an old a4) snapped because we put 3km on the car after doing his timing belt and that the rear brakes were making noise thus the job was not completed and he shouldnt have to pay.....
And the mercedes woman could have it worse, it could be both air shocks that need to be done.

I guess he'd prefer you didn't road test it to make sure it was good to go.

Back when I was an apprentice, I had a customer who thought we stole the resonator from his Caprice and replaced it with a section of straight pipe when his car was in for an oil change- he even got his lawyer involved.

I really have no patients for people like this anymore, I give them a few chances but there money is not worth the time and headache of dealing with them. Because chances are when your done with the job they will have something to complain about again or in a few months.
