Have you thought about doing your headliner? I think I'd choose a completely different pattern up there.

It's massive and tedious...and I think I would hate having THAT much pattern above me constantly. It's not sagging or anything, so I have no intentions of taking it apart and redoing it. I like just having the details in my family tartan.

Headliners aren't terribly hard. Getting them in and out can be a bear, but that's the hardest part.

Full disclosure: I used to be into mini trucks, and custom headliners were a big thing to do that didn't cost a ton of money. The headliner in my Nissan pickup was redone 4 times in the 2 years I had it, just to change things up.

You could do it in a complementary color.

If I ever did it, I think I would go black. Light grey just shows too much grime! Those pillar panels were yucky.

Damnit, headliner is starting to sag. And I still haven't finished the seats.

However, I'm going to spam the internet about my Jetta today because it rolled over 500,000. It's taken me 200,000km and 5 years of waiting since I took ownership of the car (and it's also the car I learned to drive in).

1.9 ALH (so the diesel that was in the mk4 TDIs until 2003).

Mine's a 2003, and the wagons of that generation were actually built in Germany!

I'm hoping to see it make 1,000,000

Stay away from the typical spray adhesives for the headliner. I've had good luck with an aerosol contact cement, but I can't for the life of me recall who made it.

There is one spray can adhesive that does work...the name escapes me but you can find it at oddly Sherwin Williams...

For the most part, 3M's spray is doing decently for all the pillars that I recovered. There are one or two spots that I must not have put enough glue down for.

Douglas tartan? It's the closest I could find with the google...

ALSO, does anyone remember that adhesive glue that doesn't suck? The 3m stuff didn't do it for me the last time I did a headliner.
