It's not really locked up tight. It's still pretty easy in general to access. Though I'm highly confused by all the dug up rocks and boulders laying around lately. Also the cops have been there more frequently lately. I got slapped with a nice trespassing ticket last time I was there

Really? Wow...

When we went, the big gates at the south end of the property were wide open and there were 4 vehicles driving around inside in addition to 3 more parked at the other entry which was still chained closed. Tons of people in various areas within.

Depends on the day I guess. It may also have been because of two idiots smoking pot inside. Also someone walked in a highly visible route

I have been here upwards of 20 times, easily. Have got 2 trespass tickets, both at night. If you go during the day, and take your camera, you will be fine. The police woman even told me so. The nights we got the tickets, there were some local hooligans causing crap there, and were setting off firecrackers or something. They gave us tickets, because when the other group was caught, they brought us all together, and they couldn't give them tickets, and let us go. Just go during the day, be respectful, no smashing, and you will be fine.

Another thread that maybe should be private?
Why don't you just send emails to the cops telling them when to look for ya?
Geezus

What do you think is so damn secret about this location? It's used multiple times daily for locals to walk their dogs, for christ sake. I have no idea why they'd even bother ticketing people there unless they are caught vandalizing.

I'm 5 minutes away from this historic site, and it truly is in a sad state. Sites like these are why I love the UE community. Camp 30 is tangible history, kinda like traveling back in time. Whitby Psych was another one of my favorite historic site and all but one of the cottages are left in the middle of a bunch of new houses. Camp 30 is still somewhat salvageable and should be, it was an important part of our country's history. I know that sounds corny, but it's true.

I assume you mean this article.

Can't say I appreciate the voice used in the earlier part of the article, but its pretty typical of The Sun from what I remember from reading it years ago. Inflammatory and incredulous. A couple of interesting tidbits though, and I thought it was great that the reporter interviewed one of the inmates.

We knew that they held high level individuals there, but I didnt realize that the population was so high, 880 bodies. This was also interesting. I knew there was a tunnel, just not where.

the article wroth:
If you know where to look, in King Koenig’s old barracks, Haus 4, there’s a closet from which PoWs dug a 100-metre tunnel under Lambs Rd. to a cornfield. They were caught when hidden dirt collapsed the barracks ceiling.

This was just funny, but im sure it was not at the time.

Nothing is secret to those that know, but every damn public thread just attracts more and more and more. I'm not sure why you think giving the world mountains of instant information is good for any fucking place. Especially a place where little stupid cunts light fires every day. How do you think it got this way?
Which came first, the vandal or the big mouth?

This place only looks so bad because it's one of the few locations that has been this whored out....and not torn down. But I do agree.... cross posting to 20 social media websites and #hashtag whoring can't possibly do any good.

Jesus. The place was pretty much spotless last time I went. Can't believe how trashed it is now.

This place was in decent shape in 2010, I've basically just started to go every couple of months and shoot the same location just to document its descent into ruin

I live a few blocks away but the last time I went through there with my camera was 2009 and even then it was it rotten shape. I honestly feel like they're waiting until it gets so totally trashed that the only real option is to demo the whole place and put up a new neighborhood.
