I have found myself in immediate need of a vehicle due to divorce. A truck would be preferred, since I'll be doing some light remodeling to my house after the ex is gone.

This truck looks awesome to me. It appears to have a Weber swap, but I would like to go DCOE in the future.

The eBay seats need to go, but nice junkyard bucket seats will easily fit.

Another thing I want to do with this truck is tow a light boat, possible a popup camper. I haven't found any tow ratings online for this truck, but 2000 pounds seems reasonable to me.

What do you guys think? Should I pass and look for something else, or pick this up and have a sweet bullet-side 620?

Pretty cool. Pretty impractical. Honestly for the money he will want for that you could likely get an S-10 or Ranger and have cold AC.

with those seats in it, a guy my size couldn't even get in the truck.

yeah, i would look more into a Ranger or S10. much more practical to drive and repair.

I think this may be the first time that has been said. Ever.

Parts for it seem just as cheap as a Ranger or S-10, both of which I would never own. If I were getting a newer small truck, it would be what I was looking for when I found this, a Nissan Hardbody.

I had hardbody once, hell they put 22 foot campers on the things with 2.2 l 4cyls. Talk about underpowered, right up there with my vanagon camper.

if you are truly looking for a smaller truck, the end of the discussion is a Toyota.
They are the most rugged and reliable.
You know how I feel about Toyota so for me to say that is saying something. Granted, even the 4x2's command $$$ but it's a rare case of getting what you paid for.

Just make sure the frames not rusted out, because if your above the mason Dixon and it's more than 5 years old it most likely is.

I grew up with a 1992 Hardbody. It ended up being my daily driver for a few years. My dad abused the hell out of it, then I abused the hell out of it more, and crashed it twice. The second crash bent the front frame horn a bit and did some pretty hefty damage because I chose to use a Chinese bumper instead of a good bumper. If I had left the original bumper, it would have taken the hit well, just like it did when my dad crashed it while towing a trailer.

Based on my personal experience with that truck, I prefer Nissan trucks to all else. Toyotas are just as good, but I'm a Nissan guy.

Except for big trucks. The Titan sucks balls.

my neighbor just traded her Titan V8 for a Kia Optima hybrid... 8mpg was a bit hard to swallow.

I think they actually made some diesel small Toyotas back in the 80's.

Yup....the little Perkins Diesel. I know someone who has one and because of the history of Perkins, he gets parts for the motor from a John Deere dealer.
