Abandoned Bowmanville school set on fire a second time Second fire in eight days, fire chief blames youths Clarington This Week By Brad Andrews CLARINGTON -- Another fire has been set at an abandoned school in Bowmanville. Early Thursday afternoon the fire department responded to a fire at the abandoned Bowmanville Senior Public School, eight days after they dealt with a fire at the same location. “It’s frustrating,” said Chief Gord Weir, who added firefighters, police and the building owner were all on the scene. “It’s got to be better secured, they’re looking into that.” He called both fires small and put the blame on youths breaking into the buildings, calling such acts mischief and possibly arson. The building is largely boarded up but Chief Weir suggested the youths are gaining access by boosting themselves up to second-floor windows. “They’re still trying to figure out how these kids are getting in,” he said. No injuries were reported but fire vehicles and police had to block off some roadways near the 105 Queen St. location.

I'm really glad I explored BSPS before the shits started setting it on fire. They built a pile of chairs in the sunken gym and tried to bonfire it. Dumb asses. At least nobody has caught wind of Ontario Street Public School.

Also the guy who was going to redevelop the school into elderly condos backed out of the deal. So the future of BSPS hangs in the balance once again

Ontario Street remains closed, all students were moved to the new school duke of cambridge. The power is on, but everything is boarded up.

I've had my eye on the place since they announced it would be closing two years ago.

Ive also been watching the Ontario Street School too, It's been locked down tight every time I go by there.

Hate hearing that. We had a similar situation here, and in the end, they let it rot before ultimately tearing it down.

Every time I see this thread boosted I keep thinking it's been demolished... I'm amazed it has lasted this long.

Unfortunately the warmer weather will bring more crap like this happening everywhere. Which makes every pic on this website that much more valuable.

I was there last fall and talked to the current owner for a while, he's got some good spys in the neighbourhood haha... I actually felt bad for him and all the stuff that's happened.

Really hard taking on an abandoned property, specially one that was infiltrated for a while from all sorts of people doing all sorts of things. It's almost impossible to stop.
