| | | | Days Inn Hotel, Vineland, ON (Prudhommes Landing) < on 10/9/2014 4:57 AM > | Reply with Quote
| | | Has anyone recently visited the old Days Inn at Prudhommes Landing? My mother worked there as a maid in the 70s, and I also worked there in 2001 and 2004 as a maid (an impressionable 15 and 18 years old, respectively). Even when it was a functioning hotel, it was super decrepit and creepy. The 'functioning' part of it was just a step above crack motel status. The entire north wing was closed off and used to house refugees in 2001 (I forget where they were from). It 2004, the North Wing was used, but it was even crappier than the main hotel so the rooms were advertised at a steep discount. I remember there was a closed, boarded-up pool house there and some other old abandoned buildings. Even when the hotel was open, we'd have random people bringing hookers there for 'day rates' or stays of just a few hours -- some people didn't want to pay so they'd bring the hookers to the dumpster area around back where there were usually a couple of decrepit old mattresses on the ground. I brought my husband to visit Ontario in 2012, and we went to the hotel. I also worked at the Subway and the government building in the same area, so that particular part of Vineland is very nostalgic for me. I also used to spend a lot of time at Wet n' Wild both before and after it closed... Anyway, the hotel appeared to be closed when my husband and I drove past. The shrubbery was all overgrown and we came across a suspicious van in the parking lot that was probably full of teenagers fornicating or doing drugs or something. This whole post was a long winded way for me to lead into my question -- has anyone explored the site since it closed? Specifically, has anyone visited recently and is it worth going out of my way to check out? I'm in BC now, but was thinking about Ontario today, and reflecting that it would be cool to visit again...
