Has anyone recently visited the old Days Inn at Prudhommes Landing?

My mother worked there as a maid in the 70s, and I also worked there in 2001 and 2004 as a maid (an impressionable 15 and 18 years old, respectively). Even when it was a functioning hotel, it was super decrepit and creepy. The 'functioning' part of it was just a step above crack motel status. The entire north wing was closed off and used to house refugees in 2001 (I forget where they were from). It 2004, the North Wing was used, but it was even crappier than the main hotel so the rooms were advertised at a steep discount.

I remember there was a closed, boarded-up pool house there and some other old abandoned buildings. Even when the hotel was open, we'd have random people bringing hookers there for 'day rates' or stays of just a few hours -- some people didn't want to pay so they'd bring the hookers to the dumpster area around back where there were usually a couple of decrepit old mattresses on the ground.

I brought my husband to visit Ontario in 2012, and we went to the hotel. I also worked at the Subway and the government building in the same area, so that particular part of Vineland is very nostalgic for me. I also used to spend a lot of time at Wet n' Wild both before and after it closed...

Anyway, the hotel appeared to be closed when my husband and I drove past. The shrubbery was all overgrown and we came across a suspicious van in the parking lot that was probably full of teenagers fornicating or doing drugs or something.

This whole post was a long winded way for me to lead into my question -- has anyone explored the site since it closed? Specifically, has anyone visited recently and is it worth going out of my way to check out? I'm in BC now, but was thinking about Ontario today, and reflecting that it would be cool to visit again...

from what I'm told it is occasionally accessible, but the various wings are segregated from one another by locked fire doors and there's not much inside.

To put things into perspective I've pulled off the QEW to buy coffee at that Tim Hortons on several occasions but have never taken the time to even bother investigating. It's really that empty and boring.
That being said, as someone with nostalgic memories of the location, it could very well be worthwhile for you.

if you do decide to give it a go, be sure to post up some photos

I checked it out earlier this summer. It looked pretty secure.

The online reviews of this place from when it was still operating are incredible. (In the "how did this stay open for so long?" way.)

haha I remember renting rooms there with my friends and getting hammered and all that other fun teenage stuff. That was in the late 80s up to maybe '92. I knew plenty of people who worked in all the establishments there, including the old Burger King, Victoria Hall, the gas station, and Tivoli Miniature World. (remember that place?) In fact, the Prudhommes were good family friends.

The place is under watch and the owner will call the cops without question if he catches you there, even if you are non confrontational and friendly.
From the looks of things he has had quite a few issues with vandals and scrappers and there are some nasty holes in the floors which are pretty dangerous. Aside from a pool most of the rooms are empty or just full of mattresses and not very interesting.

Save yourself the trouble and avoid it.

I checked it out with my best friend one day when we were supposed to be working, years ago. Very weird, eerie vibe. Climbed the abandoned rickety waterslide...found a door open and walked around the motel a bit nothing interesting. The other building (to the right of the hotel looking at it from the QE) looked more interesting but was secured, banquet hall I believe.
Saw some people but no one bothered us...

I think it was last year where an ex-uer member fell through a hole in the floor and broke his leg at that place.. Cops came and escorted him to the hospital AND gave him the ticket.. Haha.

From what I've seen it's pretty boring and definitely not worth the "entry fee", or any bodily harm...

Not correct about that former member, however you are correct about the place being pretty boring and not really worth it.
Based on the owners reactions and past trouble with vandals and scrappers I wouldn't recommend checking out this place, it's not worth the risk. He will call the police without hesitation. Just a warning for those considering it.

Yeah, I was able to get in recently, really nothing of interest in there.

Left...and was questioned by a cop who pulled in. I explained I was just taking exterior photos, which was all I had taken, he bought it and left me alone.

LOL, it helps that I was there ;). I don't want to derail this thread though, just giving others a heads up on my experience, and advising them to avoid this location.

Huh, then it's good to know the person in question who told me about the little ordeal is a huge liar. Or they just "added" to the story in order to garner more attention... I should've known better, haha.

The board has enough drama already, and I really don't want to add to it, or get caught in the middle of anything, just telling people to avoid the location in question. That's it.
