One less Jag! Yay!

(And on an even brighter note- looks like it killed of a few modern Range Rovers in the process of cooking itself.)

Am I the only one who disconnects the battery when I'm done trying to find a electrical issue on a vehicle till I'm working on it again?

Aren't all British cars?

I always used to want a Jag, either an early XJ6 sedan or an XJS coupe- until I worked on a bunch of them. Each one was in for something simple (for example, one XJS V12 was in for a hood catch adjustment and a taillight bulb)

After the repairs it sat for 3 days and the battery went dead. Installed a new battery and there was a constant buzzing noise from under the dash (a load reduction relay was sticking half-on). Replaced the relay- right front brake calliper seized to the point where the car could not move itself. Then it wouldn't bleed- oh, that's because the ignition has to be turned on to bleed the brakes!

And it drove like a worn out '84 Buick. Probably because it had the same transmission. But honestly- a really unpredictable car to drive, it handled like a bowl of soup.

Well, they are reliably unreliable. Maybe that's what he meant.

Unless he meant the British people.

Lucas electrics are a fucking nightmare!!!
I had a 74 Triumph Trident as my first bike. It was a constant string of electrical problems. All Lucas electrics. I rarely had an opportunity to ride it because of its constant problems. One Easter I finally got it going and took it for a quick ride and was pulled over and ticked within a mile of my house because the headlight died exiting my neighborhood and it wasn't the bulb... Fucking Lucas

I think the best example of the awful British cars of the 60s was the episode of Mad Men where Lane Price tried to 86 himself in one and the Jaguar wouldn't start!

There's that joke through the entirety of Gumball Rally where the E-Type won't start as well.
