Anybody ever stumbled across something like this? The whole floor was covered in charcoal. Fortunately the guy lit his pile of wood in a room that is pretty much 100% cement.
It was an eventful trip, as I ran into a total of 3 people on the property over the course of an hour. Maybe it's not that surprising, as you can just waltz right in to this place at three different entry points. One pretty obvious squatter camp that I just avoided (they had it quarantined off with some pallets, which I thought was a nice "keep the fuck out" signal), a scrapper loading a big piece of equipment in his truck (all the easy stuff was gutted long ago), and a kind of funny druggie guy who scared the shit out of me walking around smashing fluorescent tubes in this big open area. Later I walked in on him getting ready to shoot up in one of the bathrooms. He didn't seem worried about anything, and just immediately started talking to me about how cool it would be to have a party in the building while he continued to prep. He saw the burned room too, but seemed to think it was a really badass idea to burn the place down.
The place manufactured baby stuff until a few years ago. I was hoping to find some creepy remnants of that, but all I got was a busted up crib in the basement.
Pardon the shitty photos. For one, I suck at photography, but to make things worse my camera is also a complete POS. It started giving me some error before I could get any shots of the downstairs, which has some dangerous and leaky-looking chemical barrels and some big machinery, some giant boob porno magazines, and that crib. Card reformatted and now it works again. Bastard camera.
