Posted by cavemonkey Been wondering about this myself since all the talk of normalizing relations with Cuba have been going around. http://www.foxnews...s-for-old-classic/ Hell, people are patching together cars that are half rusted away now because something better doesnt really exist. Running/driving, even if they have some odd engine swapped in, is way better to start with than something that is completely rusted away. Probably some fairly rare stuff still rolling around down there. Could be interesting to see what makes it back up north if this goes through.

Well we canuks spend a lot of money in cuba, myself i have never been, but from friends who have been to havana, a lot of the american classics you see driving around there isnt much left save for the sheetmetal, a lot are on cobbled together frames etc, and even if relations are "normalized" i doubt the value of these cars would equal what it would cost to ship em out of the country. Keep in mind there have been autos shipped to cuba via canada and europe for years as well. Here in montreal there was a used car lot that was shipping his stuff that wasnt good enough for auction down there until recently.
