Hacking a Wii

I bought my son Xenoblade Chronicles for his Wii a few months ago. It was pretty expensive, since it's kind of a rare game, and now the disc has quit working. He loaned it to a friend to try, and it won't work on his Wii either. Looking on eBay, those games run $50 or more used. So I was thinking if there was a way to download it, burn it to a disc and play it that way. I found some hacking methods WikiHow and elsewhere, but I was wondering if anyone had any experience with hacking Wiis and could offer some advice. Thanks!

Sure is, my friend!

Wiis are one of the easiest consoles to mod I believe. No extra hardware required either. Apart from that, you'd be able to play older console games in it too (Game boy advance, Nintendo 64 and heaps more).
Each Wii's instruction differ, but this tutorial should cover most of them. I haven't touched my Wii in yonks so I don't know what's the latest firmware version out there these days. But if your firmware lies between 1.0 and 4.3, this tutorial should work. If your firmware is above 4.3 (I don't know if that's the highest Wii's go), then search for 'Wii x.x mod', with the x.x being your firmware on your wii (I think you can check what firmware you're on, in the wii settings somewhere)

Good luck and happy modding!
