I have a Pioneer Pl-X100 liner-tracking turntable from ca. 1984. It doesn't return at the end of a side, it just sits there on the record, just like a non-return TT. Any ideas? It comes back fine when I hit the stop button, except really slowly.

Posted by Professor Chaos Probably dry grease on the return mechanism.
When you say "dry grease" do you mean like powdered graphite?
