Land of Oblivion (2011) "La terre outragée" (original title)
Recently watched Chernobyl disaster themed movie. It focused more on people's lives than facts about disaster itself. Movie is about wrecked lives and being attached to a place where you can't really feel like home again. Liquidation works at nuclear plant are not showing at all, no horror, no fear, nothing like that. A lot of scenes are very emphatic and vivid , which says more than facts on wikipedia... Very beautiful and touching movie, highly recommend to watch for those who have travelled to Pripyat or Slavutych or have read Svetlana Alexievich "Voices from Chernobyl". Yeah, a lot of scenes are captured in abandoned town Pripyat, of course. extended trailer of a movie:

I want to seriously look at going there. From what I understand you can get yours starting out in northern Ukraine. That and the exclusion zone in Fukushima.

I saw this one a year or so ago. Wasnt too bad. The locations definitely seemed legit. Which generally, movies really never get right. Main stream movies just cant get that authentic ruin look down typically.

Nothing could possibly be worse than that horror movie filmed in Chernobyl a few years back.. That was absolute shit. However, the Netflix Documentary "zero hour" has a pretty good rundown of the final hour before the explosion. Didn't show much of the abandonment stuff, but was pretty interesting none the less.
