My all-time favorite is The Once and Future King by T. H. White. It's the classic King Arthur legend with a lot of interesting twists. it follows Arthur from a very young age to the end of his life. It's one of the very few books I've read that has made me laugh out loud and choke up in the same story. I recommend it to everyone.

You might want to read Marion Zimmer Bradley's Mists of Avalon. It's also the Arthur legend, but from the women's perspective. Brilliant book.

The Count of Monte Cristo is my dad's favourite book, he bought me a copy but I've never gotten round to reading it. I really liked Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy, and The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. Now as for actual book titles, gotta be Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, which I haven't read.

I just picked up The Count of Monte Cristo. I'm about half way through, but I'm almost certain this will be added to my list of favorites.

Ender's Game and The Road. Best books I've ever picked up and put time into... I think I've read Ender's Game like 6 times by now.

Yeah, Ender's game is a great book. Ender's Shadow kind of blows so far though...

wow, I wonder if there is still such a literate crowd hanging out here?

Anyway,

Don Quixote-- Cervantes
Ulysses-- James Joyce ( dont pretend to understand all of it)
V-----Thomas Pynchon ( same deal as above)
Slapstick--Kurt Vonegut (Hi Ho)
Waterland--Graham Swift
Hitchhikers Guide To the Galaxy --Douglas Adams(read the set at least 3 times)

If you enjoy Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy then I highly recommend Vonnegut Jr.'s 'Sirens of Titan'. The writer was heavily influenced by Vonnegut's work done within, in my opinion, this literary masterpiece.
