It's bad when the Citation comes out looking stylish and modern.

Sam, this is for you... this is a good watch. Long live the 6000!

(I like that they spoke about the Century like it was basically a racing car.)

Has MotorWeek ever given a bad review, and does John Davis actually like cars? 30+ years of deadpan journalism.

i always liked MotorWeek reviews because they give you their review without bias or rancor. So many other reviews also seem to throw bias in, either through tone or negative comments. With MotorWeek, this is the car, this is what it is, can do and feels like, take it or leave it.

the retroreviews are funny in that so many of those cars were so good and so bad at the same time viewed through the lens of what we drive now. Many of you aren't old enough to have ever driven any of these cars. You just look at them and go, "oh. old gm? well that's just shit." and walk away. There was always much more to the story than that. And what's even funnier, especially with the Cadillac, is that the 'most modern designed V8' was such a pile of shit, i don't think anyone even offers a rebuild kit for them once they exploded. Same with the lauded diesel options on the Olds...

Didn't the GM Diesel engine they spoke of for the blazer blow up a bunch?

I don't know that the Blazer ever did actually get it, but Oldsmobiles did (And a few Caddys, as well as VERY few C/K series trucks) but yeah, it was fucking HORRIBLE and really hurt the reputation of diesels in North American passenger cars... I think the diesel Cruze is the first domestic diesel car sold since.

There was a 4.3 V6 and a 350 version.

I met a guy who had claimed to make them entirely reliable with something simple. I'm not sure how true this is, but my landlord is trying very hard to buy his collection of diesel Oldsmobiles just for the hell of trying them.

So much freaking want. The 1st gen Daytona is just so sexy.

And so is the GLH.

I didn't know they made a Lancer Pacifica... I had an '87 Daytona Pacifica.

the diesels GM offered back then, even the 6.2L, were fucking junk. The diesel in Cruze has the advantage of coming from GM's European divisions where diesels, obviously, are way more prevalent.

I spent 8 days last month with an Opel Astra in Germany with a 6spd stick and a diesel. It wasn't bad. I'm assuming that's the same diesel that's made it's way here?

I believe so. Kept 170kmh all day long while getting 42 mpg. No grips there. Pretty quiet too.

I'll take one of each! I love my 80s GMs. All these cars are pretty much non existent around here now. Hell a few of them I have never even seen.

The reviews on MotorWeek I like because they just present vehicles as they are. And sometimes, the best vehicle isn't in the same class as the one your looking for.
