This house can probably be best described by the title of the thread. It's one of those old style ones where they used newspaper to insulate the walls (which dates back to the 50's, but I suspect the house is far older). It reminds you of how people used to live without running water and electricity (see the pump instead of a sink and the single stove element). Everything was made seemingly for far smaller people, who lived far simpler lives. There are only four in the entire house and a chair with a very curious hole in the middle.

This kind of find is one of my favourite aspects of rurex.

Yeah, though it seems like they put typar and wood to make it seem like a barn from the road. I would've really liked to see what it looked like with the original siding/roof!

haha That toilet chair! We used to have to use one, as well. It was for our cottage in northern Ontario, where I used to spend half of the summer. No running water, just a hand pump, and OFC the chair with the hole carved out. It had a wooden lid, too (much like a cooking pot lid) - I don't suppose you saw one lying around there, too?

~memories~

Fortunately no chamber pot was found. And your cottage must have been really northern Ontario if you had a hand well.

Not gonna lie though at first I read your comment as:

lol

It wasn't that far north - it was on an island in a lake, about 45 min SE from North Bay. Back in the 70s. Our toilet chair was painted baby blue. High gloss. Yeah, baby.
