Entering this stale, dank crypt without a mask is more dangerous than being caught wearing a Nazareth T-shirt when the Palestinians invade. Black mold is rampant throughout, and practically the entire house is one giant insulation bomb. There was a fortunate amount of 'pink' in the scattered insulation, but still enough fluffy white stuff around to keep my nasal-paranoia running high. Forget hand sanitizer and a mask - I think I'm going to start keeping a Neti Pot in my car. Luckily I went in the last of the sub-zero temperatures for this year. Experiencing this place in a summer-humidity mold bloom.... yeeesh. You might as well start smoking Newports.

I probably would not have posted this house as a UER thread if not for this next shot, as the house was predominantly bare. But heading down the stairs to the main level, I couldn't believe what I was seeing! We've all encountered those houses where you scratch your head and wonder who is paying the property tax and such, but how in the world could this wet-rot nightmare still not have the power shut off?

Here's a completely fictional suggestion from my gruesome imagination to have fun pretending about with the above basement photo. What if power remains on here so that the prisoner walled up in the freshly sealed confinement chamber can still have a bit of light??? Fourth row up, between the yellow and white brick, someone left them a one-inch slot for ventilation....

Holy shit.

Possible that all that catastrophic water damage is... somewhat recent? The ceiling fan doesn't have the depressed droopy look that I'm accustomed too, buckling under its own weight from rain/humidity. Mold grows fast when it wants to. On the other hand, that's a lot of decay, so it has to have been that way for at least a while.

tl;dr I have no idea whatsoever. XD

And with regard to your last comment, this is -exactly- why I don't go into basements.
