Well I have been looking at this beautiful building for quite some time. We finally decided to do it this weekend. Right when we got there we saw a car pull out from the back forrest and come towards us. We figured it was security and we started to run. It turned out to be a group of loud teenage girls...they eventually left but we were hesitant because they were bringing so much heat by being loud and driving around. They left and we gained access. It was very dirty inside and full of mould but probably the coolest spot yet. 1.

Man I've always wanted to see one of those vacuum cleaners like in #4. Was the place completely stripped (discounting the beer can)?

Explored this amazing place on an extremely rainy Saturday a few weekends back... It was pouring and the building was boarded up real nice. If anyone plans on making a trip out here send me a message, I'd love to get some photographs of the inside before this gem is repurposed.

I also went to see the creepy buildings at the back near the field - Does anyone know what this one was for/what's in here? It was raining so hard, there were knee-deep puddles and mud everywhere, I was sinking in it. The fog added a creepy vibe!

Super jealous of those of you who found a way in! I'd love to go to the basement to explore the tunnels as well.

we couldn't even find the tunnels! we think its just a ghost story. there are some service tunnels down there but nothing that leads a long way. unless they are accessed a different way, they are not there.

If I remember my history correctly, the building behind the Century Manor was the original Occupational therapy building where patients would go to perform therapy in the form of activities that mimicked real life, basket weaving, small engine strip and repair, etc.

The tunnels exist, but I am unsure if one ever went to the East House (Century Manor). They Originally went from the Barton Building to the 1950's Hospital addition that was recently demolished on the most Eastern portion of the property. I do not know if they went to the support buildings in the rear, though I assume so because how else would all the food, supplies and other things get moved from the loading dock building close to Mohawk road.

I think Haunted Hamilton has a very old article on those tunnels someplace on its web site.

There's a preservationist society on facebook going a bit whacko about this place lately, so if you do go, keep an extra eye out for anybody who sees you in or around the place. They claim to be cop callers.

I only found crawl space in the basement of the TB hospital thats demo'd.

3. However I notice this wall that seem to have a pathway thats bricked in in the basement with cinder blocks instead of bricks. Possible entrance to the tunnel?

I also did read somewhere there's a possible tunnel behind century manor. I haven't explored/ surveyed it in years.. guess next time I"m in that area, I will do a quick look around.

Most of the TB Sanatorium (Chedoke Hospital) is still there. It was only the buildings at the Brow that were torn down. the remainder of the original buildings are still active up the road.

The whole thing was TB specific, thats why that place was built. The Brow infirmary was just a part of the whole Mountain Sanatorium. It has a fascinating history.
