| | | Posted by Nismo So Im being given a 1984 Pontiac bonneville VIN 2g2as69a4e2280853 from what I found its a 3.8 V6 are these cars worth anything or should I just scrap it?
| well, it depends on what the condition of the car is and what you're going to do with it. From a purely historical point of view, it's really a nothing special sedan. But to some people, the fact that a RWD sedan has made it this long in one piece makes it a great donor car for a V8, as GM's, like Subarus, are like Legos in that respect. If the body and frame are in good shape (primary trouble spots on the G-body are where the control arms mount to the frame and where the frame kicks over the rear axle), the car would make a decent project to stuff a V8 in. If I remember right, G-bodies had a cut out in the transmission tunnel for a floor shift and a hard point under the dashboard for a clutch pedal assembly. To be honest, it would be a shame to scrap a RWD GM as there are so few left. If it's not your thing, sell it or at least find an interested party that will do something good with it. This was the last body to wear the Bonneville name and have RWD... after this car, in 87, they were FWD sitting on the H chassis.

| | | I have an RS6, 2 A4's, 1 a6, 3 touaregs, 2 passats, 1 golf, 2 jettas and were restoring and MK2 Scirrocco with a 3.2 VR6 swap, and looking to build a B5 S4 again, so you can see how a bonneville doesnt fit in, I just have no desire to learn about something that I have never marketed or sold, its not an idiotic statement its a smart business statement, I specialize in what I know best.
