The concept of a facility to care for the "indigent homeless"... The facility cared for approximately 300 indigent persons.

Due to time and circumstances, the city of New Orleans accepted the financial responsibility of the home. Based on the philosophy of social welfare of the times and the needs of the community, the facility evolved into a home for the elderly and then an institution for the general nursing care of women and men.

Today, the City Welfare department serves as administrators of the home that cares for convalescent and chronically ill adults."

Abandoned since Hurricane Katrina. I was able to find a few pics taken before the damage.

Fantastic set! Is this on the database map? I'm not from NOLA but a friend and I are planning a trip to meet up there soon. She's from Florida and I'm from Texas but we've both got an NOLA state of mind. Again...great shots!!!!

Oh that would be awesome! I'm making my way through the ranks and may never get to be one of the cool people who can see the map. LOL. But that place looks totally amazing! I really hope to get down there before years end to do some exploring. I'll be sure to get your deets and look you up. Sounds like you may be in the know for a bunch of places!!!
