So I did a brake job for a friend last night, and there was a LOT of dust. I'm sure I breathed in a fair amount. How worried should I be? Do you have to breathe a lot of it for it really to have ill effects? (Yeah, I should have worn a respirator)

Still no worries.
That's easy for you to say; you're wearing a respirator.
