this article is why i don't go to car shows or meets anymore.
the way I am on here is not the way I conduct myself in the real world. Most of the time when I am being (how did Bandi put it? Crusty?) an angry middle aged person, it's not because of people here, but circumstances and stupid things occurring in my own life. Shit happens. But when you go to a car show or a meet or cruise in, and a tattoo-ed little fuckstick gets out of a car you know goddamn well they had nothing to do with building and calls a car that you know has had many hundreds of hours invested in it 'gay' or 'stupid', it bothers you. It also bothers me that it's not about how you got there, but what you have and how much money you threw at the car.

So, I have very little do with any of it anymore.

H2Oi?

H2oi is / was a huge VW/Audi/Euro car show held in ocean city maryland end of september each year. It was a pretty fun event figure a ton of neat european cars crusing the strip, the occasional burnout, a meet on every block/parking lot.

As popularity rose and children grew up the "outcasts" started to roll in, people in destryoed overly cambered cars/JDM/Stance crap, doing burnouts, causing accidents, getting drunk and smashing bottles and littering everywhere. Even posting pics of them trashing cop cars etc. Pics of them pissing on peoples cars and vandalizing them all in the name of Efame

Needless to say theyre idiotic behavior caused a huge police crack down and ruined what was an annual weekend get away for us and a chance to display the cars we build all year long.

wasn't this called Waterfest or some such? I remember seeing a caravan of Quebec plated Eurocars going down 87 a few years ago.

I've never been to the show, but the photos that I've been seeing on Facebook this year just make it look like an awful disaster.

Shows just seem to be a big circle jerk for all of the members of the cliques that are out there.

I heard about H2Oi and was watching the clusterfuck unfold via Instasham. Feel bad for the legit enthusiasts getting fucked with by the OCPD, and even the OCPD itself, tbh - having to deal with the little shits they're trying to keep out, who actually seemed to be enjoying the police attention; like getting stopped was some kind of status-trophy.

Despite a huge age gap, I've been fortunate to befriend most of the area's car crowd, which is 99%-populated by generations older than mine. Most-everyone is a lot more respectful of other people's work; and integrity is valued more than just the make/model one drives.
