A 180 day freeze was put into place for the demolition of one of the largest and last still-standing Ku Klux Klan meeting halls at the request of several historic societies and the like. That time is almost up.
I predict the building will be quickly razed once the time limit has passed with the least amount of fanfare and/or publicity possible (if that's possible). Even the building's owners want to see it demolished, which makes my prediction a fairly good one, imo. Here is the most recent article I've found of late on the location:

In the 1920's, the Ku Klux Klan was still a major influence in America, particularly in the Southern U.S. This was the largest of their meeting halls in the area at the time, housing more than 4,000 members in its massive auditorium. I don't typically comment much on a lot of the locations I photograph for various reasons, but I do want to make an exception for this particular one. This is a building that I have wanted to learn more about for a while now due to its immense (albeit, at first, very dark) historical value. It is evident that the bulk of the structure was used as an auditorium, complete with the remnants of a stage. This is not a proud part of Fort Worth's history, but it is a very important part, in my humble opinion. The proceeding is an excerpt from the Fort Worth Star Telegram for those interested in more of the story behind the location: "The building, designed by Earl Glasgow with a 4,000-seat auditorium, was built in 1924 as the local headquarters of the Ku Klux Klan after the firebombing of an almost identical building on the site that was built in 1920, Historic Fort Worth said. In 1931, Leonard Brothers Department Store bought the building for a warehouse. It was later converted for use as the Fox and Fox Boxing Arena. Ellis Pecan bought it in 1946 and ceased its operation in 1999. A local engineering firm owned the property for a short time and had plans to renovate the structure for its offices."

I think it's incredibly interesting that such a dark and influential piece of our history has sat in the same spot (more or less - it did get burned down/bombed a couple times) for an entire century, yet most people around here drive by it every day without even knowing it exists, let alone what went on inside.

I had heard about this, but like the Baker, I've heard it so many times before, I stopped paying attention. This renovation however, appears to actually stand a chance.., similar to what's happening with the Baker Hotel.

Yes, but the only building I didn't get into was the admin building! Granted, I didn't try too terribly hard because it was empty, didn't look that exciting, and I didn't think it would be demolished a month later.
Two years ago, this location was absolutely amazing - mostly because of the additional abandonment next door to Timberlawn. Together, these two properties took up the entire city block and housed two entire communities. I never posted the photos because I didn't want to compromise the location, but it doesn't matter now. Maybe I'll start a thread... it was one of the best locations I've photographed in DFW. It's shot to shit now - if the remaining parts haven't already been demolished as well.

Meanwhile, in Port Arthur, Texas...

I found myself at this location (even as I write this) and decided to check on it. Since I had not been here for several years, I decided to scan a wiki or something for a refresher on the history but found this instead:

Man dies at the top of a smokestack after having been stuck upside down for several hours or more.

Was told about this just a few hours after having climbed a smoke stack in NOLA this weekend... What a terrible way to go... :/

He was drunk... and lost it on top.
Might have got his foot tangled in a wire or cable.
Either injured or too drunk to right himself.
Rescue failed him almost as profoundly as he did himself; he was alive for at least 2 hours after the fall.
Exposure and hanging trauma TKOed him
