Some bum busted out my window at the train station yesterday:

But didn't take anything or steal it. I assume they didn't steal it because it's a manual trans, because they stole my co-worker's Cherokee, which was parked nearby. But anyway, how difficult is it to replace that window? I called an auto glass place and they wanted over $400 to replace it.

Does your insurance not cover glass at zero deductible? Many policies do. Otherwise it's not to bad of a job. Google it for step by step but they are pretty simple and only about $20 at a u pull it.

Should be pretty simple they usually bolt in. You will have to take the door apart though pretty much I bet. On a related note a customer just got his cat converter sawzawwed off his car in the parking lot of a quite busy office building today during broad daylight , that takes some balls.

Hard to tell which window it is. It looks like there are two side to side?

Usually the front door windows and windshields are fairly cheap.

$400 is reasonable for rear or quarter windows.
Go OEM glass. The fit is better.

slightly off topic, but relevant... Manual transmissions are rapidly becoming one of the best anti-theft devices out there. I asked my insurance agent if I could get an additional anti-theft discount because my car was a 6speed manual. She actually was going to look into it.

The back doors have little vent windows behind the main window. They don't open. That's what got broken. My insurance covers glass repair at zero deductible, but replacement is part of the regular coverage. Our deductible is $500, and the glass place wanted $411 to replace it. I found one on eBay for $35. We also went to the junkyard today. They had two Liberties in the lot, and BOTH had that exact same window smashed out! I ended up getting the regulators for the back door, because both were screwed up. Typical problem on Liberties. The plastic clip that connects the window the track breaks, and the glass drops down in the door. Took me about a half hour to replace.

The glass looks like it'll be pretty easy.

I know some people who have replaced those quarter panels with sheets of Lexan.

Shit Splumer, I could've sold you a parts Liberty for $200 a couple of months ago.
We sold my nephews Liberty for scrap when he dropped a couple of valve springs.

I kept the old ones, just in case. The plastic carriers that hold the glass broke on both windows, but the motor and everything works fine. There's just no way to take the clip off without drilling out the rivets on the guide rail.

I replaced the window over the weekend. I did a little write-up for jeepforum.com if anyone's interested:
