I finally mustered the balls to break into Ontario Place, only to find that the front doors were unlocked. I ran into some employees, and all they did was give me directions and suggest that I rent a canoe next time!











I would have taken more pictures, but unfortunately the security guard on duty wasn't as helpful as the others that I ran into. He escorted me out, and we had a conversation about all the guys from Instagram that were caught there not that long ago.

i thought this place was demo'd a long time ago! I went there as a kid but decided not to return because i thought they cleaned it up. apparently they were demoing it back in 2013. Now i just HAVE to go!

It's incredible, but be sure to be more discrete than I was. Would't want security giving you a hard time as well.

I was always under the impression that Ontario Place closed temporarily to be renovated or something, guess I was wrong on that front!!

Too bad the slides have all been tagged, but I guess that comes with the territory of being in Toronto.

I think their plan was to fix it up and reopen in 2016, but given the state its now in, I doubt that'll happen.

The active construction site right next to it doesn't bode well for it's survival.

Yeah... isn't that the unfortunate part, just like other sites that sit abandoned waiting for funds or plans to pan out and then get ruined beyond repair in the process. I am still deeply upset about Camp 30 and the destruction that has taken place there, what a sight it must have been pre-2010.

The most striking thing for me when I checked it out was how much it looked like that abandoned amusement part in Pripyat, while still retaining a twinge of familiarity from the time I spent there as a child. Sort of chilling, really.

On a brighter note, why can't explorers keep using it as an amusement park? When Darthbindy and I were there, we noticed that the big blue slide would be hella fun to bike down. Just gotta figure out how to hop a fence with a bike now...

Such memories! I used to work at the Ex when I was 15 and my friend worked at Ontario Place, so we would swap employee badges and take unlimited rides at each others' parks.

I heard that they were planning on re-opening it in 2017, but as an indoor all-seasons park.
However, as you can tell by all the work that has been done so far, I'm sure they will be right on time with that.

This is really wonderful. I kept wondering about the security around this place and how easy it was to get in. It seems with the coming of instagram taggers trying to one-up each other, security would increase and make it harder for anyone to try and get in. I'd love to try and see but i'm sure as time goes by it'll become harder to get in :/

Today I went there to re-shoot the slides with a new camera, and unfortunately they are no more:

That's sad to see. The park probably still has some cool stuff to see beyond that area. It helps if you don't follow the paved paths but follow the shore and landscaped areas. I saw everything when I checked it out at a few years ago by avoiding the exposed areas that security is likely to monitor. (It was Doors Open for the Molson Amphitheatre and Atlantis restaurant when I went, but most of the park was off limits.) The log ride is quite cool, as well as the Ontario North Now pavilions. Hopefully, they're still open.
