Back in 2007, and against last week, I was given permission (good to know people) to photograph the Peterborough County Jail (closed after a riot in 2001). It isn't a big spot, and to be honest I never really found it easy to photograph (or super photographically interesting). Now that it is scheduled for partial demolition to make a ruin park, I'll put shots from both trips up here. Shots are a mix of 4x5 film photos and iPhone shots.

I brought jermIX was with me this time and, well, he's much better at putting together a story than I am (I presume his blog post will come sometime soon).

The jail has 4 cell blocks over 2 levels. Some cells were 1 person, and some were 2 person.

That's a really neat location - and awesome shots.

I couldn't imagine being in that smaller single person cell! Another reason not to get caught, I guess.

Back in the mid 1800s, they had different ideas about prisoner space requirements.

I did the tour in the fall, and was pretty disappointed with how rushed it was, and they wouldn't let us take any photos. Compared to the Peterborough tour, the Kingston Pen tour was a free-for-all.

Really Nice Set. Love #3 That employee break room had someone with one BIG BUM that broke those seats. Awesome drawings on the walls. One good helicopter there! pic Phone 1...liked reading the extensions on that phone.

Yeah, there are a lot of similarities (aside from the very different overall sizes of the facilities)
