All this happens in a different urban Web.
A person send me a message telling me he lives in the same city and BLA BLA BLA, and we talked for a couple days (at the time I check his profile and he was member for that site since 2006, I read a couple message he post and he look like another fellow Explorer) so I told him if he wanna go to this building and he said yes, so he told me I meet you there 9am on the back of the building (the back of the building have a street people walking but not like the front street of the building, alot of people walking there) so I decide to get a little early to check if somebody was in there, cops, etc. (yes I'm a freaking paranoid) 8:10am I park in front of the building crossing the street, 8:40 am a police car park very close to the building and one cop got out of the car, the other cop left. The cop walk through the building and he got in to the building (I was like :o they not suppose to be together all the time?) 8:55 am I decided to walk around the building to check if the guy was on the back of the building but he wasn't, I sat in a buss stop on the same street to see if the guy shows up. 9:15 I get back to my car, I decided to stay a Little longer so I took the zoom lens and start checking window by window and there he was, the cop still on the building second floor checking the front of the building (for far as I know the only easy entrance Is from the front door, if you wanna get from the back you need to climb to the third floor, it's a rope there but a don't have the balls to do that) 9:25am the cop got out of the building. 9:30am I decided to walk for the last time around the building to see if this guy shows up, but nothing. So I don't know what tha hell happen, maybe the cop was doing a daily routine, maybe the guy was late, I don't know what happen there. I send him a message asking him why he didn't show up and telling him it's was great, the building was amazing, but no answer so far)

my conclution...

I'm not a stupid person I take my precautions before anything, especially on this kind of stuff call urbex.

My main rule life... Don't trust nobody.

As Nicolas cage said in the movie "con air" it's only two persons I trust, one it's me and the other one is not you.

Turns out a informant set up a 10 kg meth buy at that exact location and time. Who'd ever thought?

Somehow I think detectives have being things to do than online trespassing stings for UEs...

I thought the same, but i don't think they are going to send only a cop alone for that. If that happens, that will be a very freaking bad luck been there.

What the hell you said in that situation ?

Me: Sorry officer I was taking pictures....
Police: Yeah right, lets go buddy.
Me:

I know, they are not going to use time for that but still weird coincidence.

Cops like to UE too! I can't believe you didn't walk up and introduce yourself to him. That really is an odd circumstance. You would think that if he is a cop, that he would let you know that in your previous chats so you wouldn't freak out.

The few times I've met up with another explorer, it's been in a "safe" location like a coffee shop or yogurt store. That way we could get to know each other a bit before we jumped into exploring.

A bit of paranoia isn't always a bad thing!

Heh heh, clever. Keep us updated on the response!

See if you can get his IP address - in a large city like Chicago, you can geolocate enough to get a good idea whether it came from a commercial area (where a police precinct might be) or a residential area. Also try tracing the route to the host - often relay nodes will happily give up their geographic location (PM me if you're interested but don't know how).

Having a urbex friend cop sounds good idea.

i don't think i will go anywhere if i know the person is a cop.

A bit of paranoia isn't always a bad thing!

A sensible idea.
Caution isn't paranoia. Handle strangers with caution.

A face to face meet in a public place is a very good idea. Too easy to hide in text; looking someone in the eyes, seeing their body language and hearing how and what they say are important clues to who they are.

I was a police explorer/cadet for a year or so, so in my urbex group we have a guy on the inside XD
