I've recently gotten into Urbex, and I think I have everything absolutely necessary. I was just wondering if there are any other things that most people don't think of bringing.

Water, long pants, bush hat, and always wear high top laced boots. Hats make shooting easier and help protect your eyes and face; just don't bang your head on overhead objects!

The boots will save your ankles and knees. They protect your feet and Achilles tendon from a venomous snake strike as well. An envenomation around the back of the ankle will almost always cause a rupture of the Achilles tendon eventually, a crippling injury that never rehabs a 100%!

Beyond hydration, water is a 1st aid item in case of contact with acids or caustics, for flushing eyes and wounds, etc. Eye protection is another thing I always use. It has saved my vision more than once. A good walking stick is good to have many times as well if hiking; you use less energy in rough terrain, protects you from falls, useful for dogs and other animals. I probe the ground ahead for snakes sometimes with it as snakes are experts at hiding in plain sight.
Too many overlook these basic survival items.

cargo pants
lots of toilet paper
many extra batteries and mem cards
multiple flashlights that don't suck
bail money (lol)

Those are the only things I deem important, other than one's own personal preference for camera gear. In other words, K.I.S.S ("keep it simple, stupid")

I agree with you on KISS, however it depends where you're going and for how long. I always bring some water... and cigars.
The cam and associated gear is something I now delight in not bringing as it was in the old times.

Hopefully they'll release you on your own recognizance if you're arrested. Another reason to cooperate with the cops within reason. Something some overlook in the process of getting busted.
Unfortunately the OP will have worse than the police to deal with; his parents, lol.

LOL

yeah.

I only said "bail money" because depending on circumstances, you might not be able to call "mom" to get out of the little holding cell you got yourself into for trespassing when Mr. Cop just happens to be in a "bad mood" because of something that happened earlier. LOL

Sometimes, that cop will be nice enough to ride your butt down to the local ATM machine to withdraw your $50 cash to bail your ass out!

I swear police just play by their own rules frequently, even though they are
not intentionally awful people. I have have seen it first hand just too many times to understand this. I don't mind the inconveniences, but to be honest, I have seen some pretty nefarious behavior.

Agreed! haha Toilet Paper? Is it normal that urb-exing makes you need to deuce??!

I also bring a Cliff bar or easy snack or something. Reason 1 - You never know how long you will be out, especially if you get into a situation when you need to hide and wait. Reason 2 - If I'm climbing a tall building with many lights of stairs, i need energy and also a little victory meal/celebration!

and dont forget good old H2O

. . . and then I rode off on my Dragon Chariot . . .

Eye protection

You just blew my mind; why didn't I ever think of this? You can get really solid safety glasses for under $10 which I have used for target shooting, but never thought to bring them exploring

haha Toilet Paper?

Toilet paper or wet wipes can literally save your ass. Have you ever had to walk for extended periods of time after having a shit without properly wiping? It's a horrible experience, and anyone who has had that terrible milestone in their life will understand

edit again; I need to read full posts before replying
Food/treats are also good since you can offer them to other people, either out of kindness, as a barter (you never know?) or even a peace offering. Cigarettes work well for this too
