A recent trip through the 'Nati got me thinking about the subway again, and I remembered they used to do occasional tours.

Not anymore, according to this site: http://www.cincymu.../programs/heritage (about halfway down the page). I'm genuinely disappointed, as I figure that's going to be about the only way in anymore. Being that I'm an out of towner, I know I have a slim chance of striking it lucky and the subway being accessible during the random visits we make down there.

I'm not completely giving up, but this is a bummer, as the subway is high on my UE bucket list.

budda: That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Fuck me sideways this is insane.

That tour was a rip-off anyway. Some of the cool stuff is no where near where that tour went.

I had never heard too much about it other than a few years back either on here or some Ohio-centric UE site. It looked like they didn't take you too deep (much like the Cleveland subway tour...while you do see cool things, apparently there's even better in the "off limits" sections. The difference is, that tour was free), but I figured something was better than nothing. That makes this a little less sad.

I still hope one day to get in there. I now have more reliable transportation than I did 4-5 years ago, a job with weekends off, and a best friend about 20 minutes from the city with a house I can crash at.

Spot on. It went maybe a fourth of the length of the subway, starting at Central Parkway. They said they wouldn't go to the fallout shelter due to liability issues (understandable considering the means of getting up to platform level).

Just keep checking. The last time it was open a few months ago was somewhat of a surprise, as I understand.

Oh good, my slow clap processor made it into this thing.

Agreed. Honestly, where there's a will there's a way. You can absolutely get in but it will take a bit of research. Best of luck!

Wow, I knew you didn't get too far on the tour, but not even the fallout shelter? Rip-off for sure!

I'm going to keep checking whenever I am in the area (not terribly often, but I'd say about 6-7 times a year we're down there bugging our friend Ottowolf) and keep bugging my friend to keep his eye out as well. I'm determined to get in, as I've been curious about it for years now.
