It has been forever since I went exploring or have been on this site... Not that it really matters or anything, but I'm going to try to actually get out and get some good shots; good enough to post for set with 5+ pictures.
Anyway, the only type of exploring I've done in months was at camp hero. (I say the name because it's a state park and anyone can go, but I won't talk about where the buildings are so I'm not ruining anyone's fun here). The park itself is pretty huge and it is incredibly easy to end up walking to the lighthouse out of the park and not realizing it, or to walk down onto a beach and not be able to get back up to a trail for a solid 5 miles or so. The last trip I made to camp hero was actually really successful! We managed to get in a couple of buildings and get some decent photos. After getting incredibly lost, hiking 10 miles throughout the park, getting chased and getting a fence stuck in my leg, we found a bunch of colourful buildings and openings to others.
Walking down the roads is a very surreal feeling. The government could take the park back and turn it into another Air Force base at any second. People claim to have seen Military personnel there with huge guns and such. The roads are still marked with the hazardous material lines and some of the buildings still have cameras, odd.. The POW MIA flags only add to the feeling.
Here are some photos I took whilst at camp hero this summer.
