I tell ya, Sam, 6 or 7 years ago, I'd have said the same thing, but I've kinda fallen in love with these cars. I absolutely adore my wagon (albeit, it's a 98 V70, a little more common car), and this little yellow brick has grown on me.

We also have (pics to come) a 5.0 swapped '91 940 sedan.

What I wouldn't give for a quad-round 240 wagon or an Amazon.

Thanks, Bandi. It's about to go away for the winter as soon as we lock in a truck or Subie to get us through snow season.

I had a turbo swapped '79 242 GT for a while in the early 2000s. Awesome, awesome car.

don't get me wrong, jellybean... I was NOT dogging on your car at all. At all.
I was just commenting that it's just not my thing... sorry if I came off like a dick.

Nah, not at all! Different strokes for different folks. Seriously, 7-8 years ago, I thought most Volvos were ugly, square, fuddy-duddy-mobiles. However after falling in love with our old neighbor's V70 (which through a series of events became MY 5-speed swapped, turbo'd V70), they've grown on me. There are still some seriously fuck-ugly Volvos out there (Hi, Volvo 66 and 480, I'm looking at you.)

7 years ago....hell, even probably 3-4 years ago, I'd have probably kicked the bf in the taint for trading his race-ready 02 Mustang GT for that 244....but I think we made the best choice ever, especially seeing as the last year and a half, the Mustang didn't get much road time.

Here's Der Vagn with Big Butter Volvo:

(I swore I had pics of Red...the 91 5.0-powered 940 on the computer somewhere...just interior shots)

Bonus is his 64 Galaxie 500

I think the eventual plans for the yellow one are to swap in an I6 out of a wrecked 940 wagon. Believe that engine has a turbo, too. It also came with a manual transmission, which is pretty much SOP for all the cars here.

They really are awesome cars! Love my wagon and the 244 is a real neckbreaker. I think the 5.0 will be a fun toy once he gets it dialed in...and a hella sleeper!

rust, metal, primer, and some of the original peach color... it was a weird peach with a white top, black interior. 390-V8, 3pseed auto.

She's rangerous.

Things I never thought I'd say: I love this thing. Out of the 160ish cars I've owned, this is my first Ford (excluding a Tempo I used in a demo derby) and I'd actually consider paying real money to get a newer Ranger 4x4 if I could find one with a manual when this one dies.

The interior was a biohazard so I grabbed the carpet, seats and headliner from a smashed up 2009 Ranger at the wreckers, had to replace an oxygen sensor that was causing fuel system freakouts, added a class 3 hitch and swapped in the CD player from an Explorer. (also a scrapyard find.)

Tows smallish cars pretty well, too. For $500 I'm quite happy with it!

the 2005 Ranger I bought my nephew a little over two years ago is getting pretty shady body-wise. I guess one of the box mounts is broken. Doesn't help that I found he's done nothing but beat the shit out of it since he got it.

Another new member of the family:

2005 Saab 9-2X... aka the Saabaru. 5 speed, NA, 118k. Minor body damage, but mostly free of the typical Subaru strut tower rot. First pic is post-lift (using 2005 Forester struts), this will be the winter battlewagon.

I've got a Frontier, and a Jeep....... I'm not even sure my motorcycle could get up that hill. I'm thinkin' 3rd gear 60mph, down to 2nd at the middle, and if I needed 1st I'd better be looking for a place to turn around quickly.... Would not want to tumble down in a truck....

From back in July. This was a fun night.

Fortunately it's doing much better now. Just hit 144K today and treated it to a center console faceplate swap (I got one with a manual clock from the junkyard, and apparently that wasn't offered in the 2009 version of my trim level). Needs some new brakes but otherwise serves its purpose well.

Also discovering the joys of having a car that is new enough to be modern, but old enough that most junkyards have one or two models available.

Oh good, my slow clap processor made it into this thing.

I did a terrible, terrible thing.

Nothing can possibly go wrong with Lucas electronic ignition.

So it's an '81, 4 door prototype. Right hand drive, manual, 3.9 liter V8 with dual SU carbs. CBS news used it as a camera hauler in Africa until a cameraman brought it back to Canada in the early '90s. It's been parked since '98 but I almost got it to start the other night with about 45 seconds of involvement- a battery and some ether.

The only electrical things that work are the horn and the starter. The horn is made by Hella, so that makes sense.

The green one in the background is mine, too... it's a '95, also a manual. It might become a pickup.

What are your plans for it?

I want to make it as reliable as possible (hah), upgrade the wiring and fuse panel, and make a somewhat competent offroad/excursion vehicle. Nothing too extreme, I'd like it to look stock-ish, maybe a mild lift and slightly bigger tires. And auxiliary lights.

It would also be badass for hauling my race car around.
