A Dosimeter is a device that is used to measure the radiation dose to which a person has been exposed to. There are two general types, dosimeter badges which are worn to measure cumulative doses over periods of weeks or months, and pocket dosimeters, which are generally used for monitoring shorter term exposure. These are usefull when being exposed to any types of radiation.
