I came into a little sum of money as of late (closed out stocks and 401k) and was thinking (thinking... nothing has been set in stone) about maybe a parting gift for me and something I can leave my 2nd nephew to drive after I am gone. A friend of mine sent me this ad from northern NJ craigslist. It's a 1991 Beretta GT (yes, I like Beretta's... hush!) 63,000 original miles...
and I even like the color. What do you guys think?

Looked at one a couple of years ago. Decent little unit, keen to buy, but the seats were uncomfortable, hooped E Brake and the clutch was going. Yours' sure has good low mileage. I see a parked uninsured 95? Monte Carlo, tempted to try to buy cheap, but research shows they are not reliable. Kinda like the skanky stylin though. Miss driving my '96 Cutlass. Underrated sleeper, sort of. I mean compared to the 98 Villager. Seriously though, the Cutlass was a fun cheap car.
My sister is Charlotte Light and Dark. Who am I?

Posted by Nismo if people are willing to pay 3500USD for 20+ year old cars that sell for 500 CAD which is 380.00 US. operating at 1000% ROI is heavy sick
do you have buy here-pay here or graveyard lots in Canada? a car with such low miles, regardless of the year, would command a higher price to clientele that can't just walk into a dealer and buy <5 year old car.

as far as the used car market goes the easiest thing to sell is 2010 + as far as older cars go I get access to all the trade ins that come to the dealer, sadly most of them end up getting sent to the scrap as no one wants to buy them and its to much of headache for the dealers to try and sell.

you walk on to a buy here-pay here lot in rural NY or Vermont, you're going to see 10+ year old cars on the lot. And you'd fall over if you saw what those dealers got for them. It's crooked as fuck, but some people just can't get financed at a reputable dealer for a <5 old car. Sad state of affairs.

I got a story for you... Was looking for a replacement car for my nephew in 2015. He shattered just about every valve spring there was to shatter in in 2000-something Jeep Liberty. So we stop at this buy here-pay here lot in Plattsburgh NY (i'm sure you are familiar with the city being just in Montreal). We looked at a 2006 Chevy Cobalt sedan. Had 100,000+ miles on the odometer. Got in the car and the interior was pretty beat, carpets ruined. Fired the car up and of course there was a check engine light as well as a light for the steering box (Cobalts had electric steering assist). The steering had an alarming clunking going on and the transmission had some issues engaging. I am think at best, this is a $1500 car. So as this car is warming up, it starts surging. With a 2.2L Ecotec, surging means there is really something wrong with it. So the salesperson is telling us they will fix everything and they they mention the price of the car... Now NADA says that best retail for this thing with 110,000 miles is $4300 and that is if the car is CHERRY. This car was fucking beat. They wanted $8000 for it. Yeah, $8k for a ten year old beat to shit Cobalt LS sedan!!! My nephew blurts, "Fuck that." and we walk away laughing. we ended up buying a 2005 Ford Ranger 4x4 extended cab pickup which he's still driving.
Ugh. How do they get away with it?

That's thievery at its finest
I prefer buying fucked up cars completely repairing them and offering a free one year in house warranty with the purchase of the vehicle as well as two free oil changes. To date I have never had to warranty anything lol
