| | | I had been debating posting these. The location, Sloss Furnaces, is in the database but it is a National Landmark and thus will no longer deteriorate nor truly ever be abandoned again. But I think the story is just too good not to. 1. IMG_0138 by Thingamahbob, on Flickr 2. IMG_0139 by Thingamahbob, on Flickr 3. IMG_0140 by Thingamahbob, on Flickr 4. Partly because having a co-pilot would be nice. Partly because I just have a very difficult time telling her no. We were excited, we both had a hard time sleeping the night before, I had only about 3 hours sleep myself. We hit the road with our Dunkin Donuts coffees in hand, mate it to Jacksonville in no time, I figured we would arrive with plenty of time to spare or other activities. At about 6:30am I awoke from a half-asleep stupor realizing that I left my cellphone and camera battery at home on their chargers. I then spent the next 6 hours tracking down a battery while playing navigator and meteorologist (As a floridian, I qualify as an amateur meteorologist). After I finally retrieved a replacement battery and charger, headed into town to Sloss, now more than 4 hours behind schedule. We only had about 2 hours to work with till the location closed to the public. But just having the time to meet fellow adventurers and run around a location and take pictures.. That was worth every ounce of trouble and only worsen my case of wanderlust. I can't wait till my next venture out there, nor my local ventures.

| | | Posted by dundertits Nice meeting you and your Mom that day and 2 and 16 are killer!!!!
| It was a pleasure meeting you. =D I feel horrible about the delays but I'm glad yall were able to stay busy while waiting. Posted by SaladKing #52 looks like a graveyard, and this whole place looks like a blast!
| That gives me an idea... And it was!! I can't wait to visit Sloss and Bham again. Posted by Sheavy Seconded, and I saw no shoes in my tunnel shots . Some good stuff here, really like your shot of the hook! When you ever make it back up this way we'll have to try some e-z places truly abandoned.
| Yay! I r gud at hiding =3 Thanks, the hook is one of my top five favorites from this trip and totally not why I was giggling to myself while you took your picture of it =P And, as I said, next time. =D Posted by pip lol It was a pleasure to meet you and your Mother. Glad you made it to Sloss. 54 is my favorite shot, I really like the colors.
| Thank you, this trip was amazing and meeting you, Sheavy and Dundertits was great. Next time I promise I'll be better prepared, and on schedule. I may have also found some other places to check out too, map in the works. =D
