I'd been keeping this house and the details surrounding it off of social media, due to concerns about theft, vandalism and arson, since the recent spike. But it recently made a social media debut on another well known explorers site(s) so I figured it was time to share.

The house appears to have been built in the late 1800's, and has seen at least 2 additions, one sticking with the original style and a more recent (maybe 1960s or 70s) addition that looks completely out of place. The house was separated into two separate apartment units, and the larger of the two has an in-law suite built into the "modern" addition.

The house was owned by a farmer and rented out as recently as 2013. A development company purchased the property/land and leased it back to the farmer until their permits were approved by the city.

Now the home is slated for demolition, and the historical society has already been told there is "nothing of historical value" left in the home/property, so it's fate has been sealed. 130 Townhouse/Condo units are to be built on the property and surrounding farm land.

I did my best to document absolutely every room and outdoor angle of the home, so feel free to check out my Flickr for a more comprehensive tour.

Nice work on this one.

After my visit I was careful to not post any pictures of the exterior to avoid un-needed exposure etc. It was actually given to me by some guy on Reddit from that area.

Funny when i was leaving to go back to my car parked up the road, two guys pulled in to explore it and parked right out front.

Very sad to see this one not being saved.

Nice photo set Skye, keep it up!!

Thank you, although I must admit your wide-angle shots do this place much more justice than my kit lens.

It's visible from the road, but it's not on a major road taken by people not local to the region so I'm not too worried at this point. Especially now that a demolition permit has been issued.

RE: [Pic & Write-Up Heavy]

Oh heck, I don't think anybody here is complaining, lately! It has been way too slow to be 'choosers'. Nice that you found a little bit of natural light in there, as the first few pics made it look like it was going to be a flash-only gallery. Interesting tub!

PS - I really hate that link pastes from Flickr get the photo names messed up somewhere in the communication algorithm with this site whenever there are any shift-key characters. (eg. "Sellout House" Exterior)

Skye_Ann, first of all, i don't know if Skye, is your real name, But i REALLY like it...just thought id tell you that NOW, the house! WHAT a shame! It doesn't look like its beyond help. Cool tubs and Arches doors. But, i guess the Owner will opt out to sell the land to developers to make some fast cash. Awesome pics here!

cool set! With all of the additions / modifications it's not really surprising that this wasn't granted heritage status, but it's still always a shame to see something cool like this go. That being said, often times these tear-downs are stripped of unique original fixtures like door frames, flooring, banisters, etc, so there's a good chance that bits and piece of it will live on. If there was something you wanted to keep, perhaps try contacting the owner / demo company to see if they'll let you have it. I've scored some great barn-boards from a property that was slated for demolition, just by asking.

That's pretty sick, haven't had the chance to explore much of these abandoned houses...Toronto doesn't have much quantity when it comes to bandos :/
@freakphotography the shots of the foyer are awesome!
