I was walking around in the forest around a village in Germany and I found a bunker in a glen. Completely taken over by wildlife and flora. Foot and a half deep with water, so we didn't go in. There were MG mounts on top. Very interesting find.

Nice find
I'd go hog wild if I was in Germany, bunkers everywhere.

Waders! It's not an adventure if you don't get down in the dirt. Pretty cool, though I would of gone swimming.

Well, I wasn't expecting to find the place. We were really far out in the woods off of the beaten path. Not like I knew it was there. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Not to mention it was one of my last days in DE.

Might want to keep an eye out for unexploded ordinance- grenades, artillery shells, bombs, etc. Be careful around old military battlegrounds and targets.

Anyways, awesome find!

For sure, I hear stories all the time about people getting killed. Without disclosing the location, I can tell you that this is not where there would be mines. Nowhere near the schwarzwald.

thats insane! its a shame how full of water it was. I don't know if I'd be brave enough to even look inside, lmao.

Are we technically supposed to be in here? No.
Is that going to stop me? Also no.

I really don't know much about Germany, and I've never been, so I was wondering if you could tell me how many of these bunkers are left? Have they been mostly undisturbed since the 40s? Can you still find artifacts inside?

Well they're historic sites.
Start digging around too much you might find some live ordinance. Explosives can still be viable even after a hundred years and their detonating mechanisms/primers tend to become more unstable with age...

I visit the black forest for weeks each summer, and you can find bunkers out in the woods if you look, but they are usually looted by the squatters who slept there overnight. I wouldn't be too worried about unexploded ammunition, but a live grenade is a truly dangerous thing.

There are sections of the Black forest that are still off limits because of mines.
Glass composite anti-personnel mines, hermetically sealed and viable.
No ferric metals.
They are exceptionally hard to locate, the maps are long lost... and they work really well.

Here's the puppy... 200 gms of HE fun.

The Germans were technically very advanced.
Their booby traps were second to none and their demo techs well trained.
They made and deployed many mines.
Any found should be considered viable and extremely dangerous.
The primers tend to become more unstable with age...

A point of suspicion...
