I am pretty new to the hobby, and have only been to 7 or 8 spots so far. Each time it has been with a different size group and each time it seems there is a different group dynamic, partly because of the different people and partly because of the size. Just wondering what your ideal group size is, so just answer the poll with what group best fits you.

Two.

Me, and one other person.

That means I can watch their back and they can watch mine.

At a push, me and two others. Any bigger than that and things start getting messy.

2-3 people is my preference. I never go alone because I wouldn't want to get hurt!

Depends on what it is. There is very little I won't do alone, but it's usually nice to have another competent person around.

First post, best post.

Although my longtime exploring buddy skipped town, so I've been going it alone lately.

Now holding auditions for a replacement.

I did my first couple explorations by myself, but after meeting people, I have gone predominantly in small groups (2-4 people). I agree with the statement that anything more than that number becomes cumbersome, but if we had a large group at a meet, I'd suggest locations according to the group size.

Whether you choose to go with a group of a certain size or by yourself also depends on where you are exploring. Safety should always be a concern, and if there is a high chance of encountering danger, you should never go it alone.

Two people works really well I think. Going alone can be fun, but it's a lot better to have a companion to share that fun with and also to watch your back.

So far I've only explored in groups of 3, including myself. 2 or 3 is my preferred range, as someone already stated things get messy when it exceeds 3, so I plan to always keep that limit. So far I haven't gone anywhere on my own, but once spring rolls around and I'm spending more time outside I'm sure I will.

I like having 3 other people with me when exploring, but honestly it really depends on the maturity and how level headed the person you are with. If I'm with people who are childish or easy to freak out, I choose to bring them to a less cool place that is easier to access. If I just hopped two fences and crawled into a small dusty entrance (hypothetically speaking) the last thing I want is for you to monkey around, not staying close to the group and freak when you hear an unexplained sound. Over all it's not just the size of the group I worry about, but also on how the people you are with can handle themselves in certain environments.

I prefer one other person, who is out of shape, so in the event someone needs to be sacrificed its not me.

Two at a minimum. Usually it's Me, the misses, little bro, and his girl. People I know, trust, and that listen.
