Somewhere east of the 400, in Blaekly's neck of the Ontario woods, sits a bad situation up on a hill. You can almost feel the fit of rage as you approach the house, greeted by furniture and personal belongings thrown all out across the yard and down the driveway. The garage was clearly the site of many drinking parties. I first thought the graffiti came later, with local teens using the property as the perfect clubhouse. But I've never seen teens invest the time to decorate their pad with stringers of outdoor patio beer ads. The house is a strange one; some rooms are pristine and look like they were lived in last week. Others are decrepit and soggy, making a time frame for abandonment tough. The calendars in the living room and kitchen were all 2012.

That Wooden Cat saw the whole thing...ask him! LOL
That first intro shot is great! I Like that stuffed chair too...looks like the animals used it as a scratching post.

Been sitting on this one for awhile, eh? The sink is so clean!

Beautiful photos, especially those of the garage. Frankly I can't believe you got so many worthwhile shots here! It's a little on the boring side.

But as usual I love seeing your shots of places I've been -- it gives me a good reference point for my own photography skills. If my shots look kinda like your shots then I know I'm doing something right

You can't tell from these shots but the front portion of this house may be as old as just pre-1850, making it one of the older houses in the area. Obviously it's been re-vamped and added onto a couple of times, but the old fieldstone basement (not pictured) and "older" 1-1/2 storey construction style are telltale signs that this ain't exactly new.

Census records from 1850-1910 seem to refer to the same "Plank" house at this location - but is that this house, or another one built ontop of the old foundation?

Awesome!
I would never have guessed that the sink in your photo is the same if not for the grey marks on the tiles. I wish I could have seen it then instead of somewhat cleaned up and cleaned out like it is now.

Thanks for the anecdotal notes about the history. So much more interesting, and I'm glad to have you for some local lore.

I've still got a bunch more from the area that you can hopefully shed some more light on.
