What're the bucket list roads that you guys have? Or road trips?

My biggest one I've mentioned a few times, the Dempster Highway. It extends from just outside of Dawson City, Yukon and continues to Inuvik, Northwest Territories. It's recently been extended in the summer to reach Tuktoyaktuk. It's a gravel highway that has been built on the permafrost. Dawson City to Inuvik is about 800km.

The Alaska Highway is another big one:

It was built during WWII to connect the US to Alaska through Canada. It extends from Dawson Creek, BC to Delta Junction, AK. Unlikely the Dempster, this highway is mostly paved for the 2224km it reaches.

As I have said before, one trip I want to take before I die is take a month and drive from Ogunquit, Maine to Santa Monica, California... not take interstates if I can help and just see the country. I've never been west of Indiana.

What's stopping you from doing it this year?

What? Seriously. Gas is cheap. Car is reliable. Cheap motels are excellent. Stock up on meds, sell some shit, and come see the country!

^^^ What he said.

I was amazed at how cheap gas is down there - I was down in Dayton, OH last weekend and it was approx .68/L. I haven't seen prices like that since I was 16 here. We're paying 1.37/L for gas, 1.32/L for diesel right now.

It's not the most original idea, but I just want to do Route 66 in a classic Beetle some day.

Did Tail of the Dragon and the Cherohala Skyway in my Turbo S in 2017 and that was a lot of fun, but I do wish I had booked a bit more time off for the trip to explore the area.

It's become an annual thing (with the exception of this year because I'm house poor!), hell, last year I even got stranded in the area for a couple extra days!

I'd totally make the detour to SC for a beer.

Oh snap, right in my stomping grounds!

Yes, gas has dropped again, it was up for awhile.

Cliche, but Tail of the Dragon and Route 66.

I'd also love to take Route 2 all the way into Washington State.

Also, it's a very short road, but think it might be cool just to say I did Lombard Street.

And finally, to actually be behind the wheel crossing the Mackinac Bridge. I've always been a passenger, and I want to change that. (One big non-driving related bucket list the bf and I started is do as many famous bridge walks as we can. We've done Mackinac and Tacoma Narrows so far...)

Still cheaper than Ontario. And your drivers are so, so, so much better.

Cool! I've been down there twice now for an annual Scirocco meet up. Nothing like driving over 1800km (1100 miles) in a 40 year old lowered car in 3 days to make you appreciate modern conveniences in a vehicle! Like AC...especially when stuck on the interstate. I'm generally a windows down person, but damn. Cupholders are pretty cool too!

The driver tends to get a lot of steps on their Fitbit in that vehicle...I got 18,000 steps on the drive down (I did about 7 of the 10h).

I drove a 1969 Jeepster Commando that had been sitting since 1977 from Spartanburg SC to Mobile Alabama on the tires it was parked with. Bias ply with innertubes.😂😂😂

Both years we did the loop, so we got MI, OH, PA, NY.

There's two rallies that are kind of like road trips that I really want to do:

Yeah, the Gambler 500 has been on my list for a bit. And I have so many potential automotive candidates for it! (Would probably end up using the lifted green TDI bug)
