I'm just getting into the Urban Exploration scene. I live in upstate New York. Binghamton - Johnson City specifically. Its extremely hard to find people willing to go explore with me, along with finding places to explore. I'm looking for any kind of tips or information I can get my hands on. If I'm not responding on the platform then you can find me on -Tubmlr: @or-gasmss -Instagram: @neverpeachy -Kik: @fluffy_bunnies_

There is a lot of stuff in the Binghamton area, shouldn't be too hard to find things up in that neck of the woods.

You're new to the urban exploration community, so I'll explain some of the do's and don't of this community. I don't mean this condescendingly- all of us started where you are now, and many of us made mistakes.

First off, asking for locations is a pretty huge faux pass for new users. Abandoned locations that are well publicized tend to end up tagged, scrapped, burned, and/or sealed. As such, most explorers tend to hold information pretty close to their chests in order to protect these locations. Giving out locations is an incredibly huge display of trust in this community, and not something we do lightly.

We don't know who new users really are behind their screen, or what their intentions are. Maybe they're explorers like us, or maybe they're cops, or scrappers, or arsonists. We don't know until we see how they act on the forums, so new users with only a handful of posts are extremely unlikely to be given locations. You don't give sensitive information to a stranger after all.

The same goes for exploring partners. Some (but by no means all) long-term members will be wary of exploring with somebody they know almost nothing about. That will change as they get to know you through your forum interactions. Many users, myself included, started off with nothing to explore and nobody to explore with. Paradoxically, finding both partners and locations get easier the more of both you already have, because it proves you're trustworthy enough to be given sensitive information without leaking it all over the internet.

I recommend reading through the Common Thread Topics list for advice on finding locations of your own, and the in's and out's of this community. Basically, no one's (probably) going to give you anything, because that's not exploring- that's just tourism. You gotta get out there and find the unknown yourself- that's what urban exploration is all about.

Not meaning to have a go at you, but maybe don't ask for help then say, "If I can't be bothered checking for responses come looking for me".

Be careful & stay safe.

This could be a symptom of bad personal hygiene.

Enjoy the scene man!
