I absolutely love exploring buildings that have a spectacular view of its City's skyline, whether it's abandoned or not. I thought it would be cool to create a thread full of skyline photos, doesn't matter what city, how old the picture is, etc., just share a few of your favorite skyline pictures that you've taken. I'll start off with my 5.
The first three are from a float warehouse.
1.

2.

3.

The next one is from Chicago's famous Damen Silos.
4.

The final picture is from a Coking Plant.
5.

State Street in Madison, WI from atop the tower crane of a now completed construction site. The Capitol Building dominates the skyline from any direction, due to building height restrictions that ensure that it is the tallest building on the isthmus.

Milwaukee, WI as seen from the McKinley Marina breakwall pier. Its is only a camera phone, but I still don't quite get why the US Bank building is distorted. It looks like it is falling over!

1.

Bonus shot. The Milwaukee Breakwater Lighthouse, 1927. I would give damn near anything to get a peek inside this place. It is at the end of a 4mi breakwall, and only accessible by boat. Coast Guard said they no longer needed it in 2011. In 2013 The Friends of the Milwaukee Breakwater Lighthouse and Optima Enrichment purchased the property. They have since been trying to raise funds to restore and open to the public. Until then, it stands empty. Taunting me. Note the cool 4 mast tall boat to the right!

2.

AWESOME pic from https://milwaukeeb...terlighthouse.org/ Not sure of the overall height, but I know the actual light inside the lantern in 67ft above the water. Lake Michigan is no joke! Exterior walls are 1/4" steel, windows are 1/2" thick....

That's so cool. I'd love to get a glimpse inside of that place myself someday. That being said, does the Coast Guard have an automated light set up inside, even though they pulled their people out? Or is it truly abandoned and decommissioned?

It is now automated. A solar and battery powered red light replaced the old light. There is also a phone number and radio channel you can call to have the fog horn blown. Some pics of the inside do exist from the media, but they do not satisfy my appetite. I am hoping I can volunteer some day for restoration efforts. It appears volunteering will be the only way to get inside until a day comes for tours. Since they need $2.8m to restore (It had a total cost of about $180k when it was completed in 1927), I am guessing tours won't happen anytime soon....

Here is a link to the media pics: https://onmilwauke...eakwaterlight.html

I assume the legal percussion for trespassing are a lot more severe than normal since the automated lights make it a piece of public safety infrastructure, right? Volunteering is certainly a viable way to avoid that though.

I am assuming that as well. The Coast Guard station is only 1/2mi from here and with a perfect view of it. Even though they no longer "own" it, I am quite sure they keep close tabs on it. Personally, my balls are no where near big enough to try and get in. I would also assume entry would be impossible without some serious B&E, seeing as the exterior walls are 1/4" steel, the windows are 1/2" thick, and the concrete base that has the lower levels has 30" thick walls....

However, IF I were to find a local UER'r here that had inside knowledge, or I get a volunteer gig there, you be certain that pics will be posted here. I just wouldn't expect it anytime soon!

A couple skyline shots that can be seen from New Jersey and its surrounding metro areas:

1. Philadelphia, PA

2. Atlantic City, NJ seen from Brigantine, NJ

3. NYC seen from Weehawken, NJ

4. NYC seen from Garret Mountain - Woodland Park, NJ

I have many more but these are some of my favorites. Plenty of skylines to shoot here in NJ

Milwaukee from Pabst. The church in the middle was sadly destroyed by fire last month.
