Nah, this dude at my school said he went into hearn once last year I think with a couple friends (not an avid explorer by any means, just for shits...). They made some noise and the cops were called. He said there were at least 10 cars, K9's, the whole 9 yeards...

They made him lay on the ground and all that, all the while K9's were barking their heads off.

Seems like the usual response there!

definitely a normal response to the hearn. i’ve been caught there once, they sent dogs in and everything and it wasn’t until we came down from the top that we realized the cops were there. oops.

I'm curious - no one who speaks of getting caught has mentioned what got them caught?

There were stories of motion sensors in the control room in the last 2 years but I'm very curious to know how people are getting caught. especially if the response isn't until you're an hour in.

Going on the roof during the day most likely. Or leaving an entrance open.

I may or may not have "stalked" "found" a security guard to a nearby weekly motorcycle meet and talked to him after he attempted to catch us on the propriety, and followed by chasing us outside the site... Either-way, I mentioned myself to him and asked him how he knew we were inside the building, he answered by telling me a security system had been triggered.. When I asked him what kind of security alarm they had he just looked away and acted like he didn't hear me ahah.

When we got inside, the original plan was scouting, so we went up to the roof as quickly as we could. This picture was taken after around 10 minutes we got up there. So surely they must have motion sensors or something... If you need more details, shoot me a PM. That applies to everyone else but only whether I trust you or not I'll give out details...

Here's a picture of him I probably shouldn't share but it's from June and intentionally in low details:

All and all the man is cool, I never publicly mentioned my inquire with him, I have a full story if interested (PM me)...

He's pulling your leg. No motion sensors. Just people get spotted.

I've been going there for over ten years and never got caught. I would have tripped a sensor by now if they had them.

He sounded convincing tho, like he didn't meant to say it, it sounded natural and accidental... But damn if you never got caught in 10 years then yeah, maybe we did simply got spotted...

It's entirely possible that there's a motion sensor or two somewhere, but the Hearn is a big place, and everyone's methods for exploring are going to be different.

I can confirm that there was, and we're talking 2011, a motion sensor on the then primary means of entry and exit (the bay door). After exploring for several hours we walked out through the door at night. The third person in our group happened to notice a green blinking light from a garage door style sensor about knee height above the ground, to the right of the door. He then yelled at us to book it and we just made it into the bushes as the security car came racing around the corner of the property towards us. Police were called and were waiting for us on the cherry street bridge, fortunately we noticed them and waited it out on the neighboring property.

With that said, I CAN CONFIRM that there was at one point sensors, but I can't speak to what's there today.

One by the East door of the North control room (the one with the peaked-windows) also, as far as I know.

Interesting. I've never tripped it and I have been all over. Not saying y'all are wrong. Probs just used different access points or whatever. Seems I've been lucky thus far. I'd say I shouldn't push my luck, but I always do.

This has all been very interesting, the reason why I asked is because I was considering going on this past weekend but I ended up going to something similar yet different instead.

However, on Friday night I drove to Hearn to scout and make sure I could get in if I decided to go on Saturday morning. I parked and took the usual route in, there was a truck parked at the east end with a guy sitting inside the truck and his interior lights were on. There was a door wide open that he must have been watching. When I spotted (actually almost ran directly in front of) the truck I back tracked and went elsewhere where I found the bay/loading door swing wide open with the boat inside and a movie set bathroom. I'm guessing this was only open due to a film shoot taking place during the day and so this guy in the truck could use the bathroom if he needed it.

In the near total darkness I walked the turbine hall (there was a rather fresh set being built, you could smell the fresh lumber). Then went up to the level where the north control room is, walked into the control room (through the east side door as Jon mentioned), walked around and just enjoyed being inside.

I was happy with my scout mission and knew I could get in if I decided to come back the next day, I went back out the way I came in and had no issues. The main security guard was also stationed at his post at the west entrance.

I passed through two areas now known to have motion sensors and I don't think I tripped them...or if I did the response time sucks!!

Anyway, this has been an interesting discussion and it seems the mystery of Hearn and the possibility of motion sensors remains unsolved!!

As for where I ended up going instead of Hearn...it was a much smaller and much older power plant, but still an awesome explore and location that a small handful (that I'm aware of) have been inside.

The way I got in when we were chased was close but not quite there, once in we took the catwalk leading us to the main stairs in the East-Center part to get to the rooftop... It's too be noted that I may have opened the door to peak my head out at the lower roof facing South...

Freak as you took another way in and another route inside the building, it's very possible that there wasn't any sensor in your direction, or simply those sensors only triggers a red light in the security office that could've been missed by the guards... I'm gonna see if I can find the same security guard from last time and engage a conversation again about the security measurements of the Hearn.

Also nice set, Frank! Nothing like paint peeling off walls!

Did you really just post the entrance I opened up on a public forum? That was told to you so you didn’t have to army crawl the entire length of the building again?

Dude this place is so easy, it really doesn't matter what anyone says about it. The only thing worth talking about in regards to Hearn is the chimney. When someone pulls through and climbs it again, then we have something worth getting all worked up for.

I see you’re the same type of way then. It has nothing to do with ‘how easy a place is’, it has to do with publicly telling an entrance that was told to you that somebody else opened. And clearly this place isn’t ‘so easy’ right now if people are getting chased out by security recently 😉

You're right, I shouldn't have posted it... I edited it. The post hasn't been up for long enough, it's been a while since that PoE was utilized, I figured it wouldn't have matter when I posted it and I apologize...

I'm usually more careful about posting PoE since an abandoned stripclub incident.

Your going to be surprised. My buddy was rolling with a squad with about 5 or 6 people. The cops came into the building screaming at them to get down (they were on the 4th floor). They had the K9's barking there asses off on top of it. They went down, sat them on a curb and yelled at them pretty aggressively. The main worry for the cops were if anyone had paint. They were VERY keen on the paint. They ended up letting them all go on just a warning. The cops made a joke when they were leaving saying "I'm letting this dog go and the first one to get caught is getting a trespassing ticket". The video is not online but ill try and get him to send it over!

That's because the rooftop was hit with some epic rollers last year and vandalism is the worst thing ever, vs. some guy dying. It's not the first time they have busted people painting there but last time they got away with it.
