After exploring 10+ drains or so recently in the city of Peterborough I thought it would be cool to make a map of them to share. As it is a work in progress some of the drains are not fully drawn out and some are educated guesses. \

A quick disclaimer is that most of these are back breakers with 4 or 5 of them being 6 foot RCP, The most interesting of them would be a 5 or 6 out of 10, and the majority are 30 minute explores. That being said, if you're in the area or just want to try out some simple drains for fun then this map should help you out.

(Mods, since you can't really damage a drain and most of these are glaringly obvious to find I'm putting this as a public thread. If you would like me to change it to private however I can do so as well.)

The Jackson creek section was one I explored as a kid. It opened up of course after you left the downtown area and no longer ran under buildings, but we would follow it all the way to Jacksons park

I checked out the creek that runs through the downtown when I was there last and think it's the most charming thing ever. The way it meanders under downtown and stays mostly daylighted is amazing.

Are you guessing where you are in the drain, in relation to what's above? I have an AWESOME Google Earth overlay of sanitaries and outfalls that Milwaukee made as part of public record, but the overlay does NOT show storm drains. I would love to map my explores, but often have trouble keeping a GPS signal when in the drain. So the short question is, how did you arrive at your map scribble?

Give abandonment a reason for its sacrificial reclamation to nature. Love it. Remember it. Take a picture. Share it. Leave the decay to nature.

I go about getting that map scribble by taking pictures of the surroundings through manholes, by using my general sense of direction, and by looking over the area with Google maps to find the most plausible location for the drain to be. Generally drains follow roads or open paths so if you remember how far you've gone then the turns you make you'll be able to map then out.

Were the drains brick by chance? Or all boring RCP?
