Posted by TheReaper42 Checking around my area, I found what looks like an abandoned industrial area. The problem is that the only road to it is a dirt road that goes past several houses. I get the sense that they're the type of people that would take shots at trespassers, with the location being in the middle of nowhere in eastern Colorado. The second problem is that the only other route into the site would be crossing a fairly large river. Even then, the nearest parking to that side of the river is miles away and, once again, in plain view of many houses. I was thinking of predawning it on bicycle, but there's nowhere nearby (10+miles) to park a car and unload a bike. I would really like to figure out the best way to explore this site. Any ideas?

when I hear stories like this Im always skeptical
if it is indeed a "an abandoned industrial area" did it only have one entrance when it was operational?
youre not even sure what the site was so how are your scouting methods working out for you?
satellite images only?
10mi is nothing unless youre physically impaired, when youre suggesting "theyre the type of people that would shoot you" are you talking about the neighbors or is there personnel on the site that you think will shoot you
pre-dawn scouting on a bicycle where no bicycle traffic would normally be seen?
sounds all stealthy and stuff but I would think that would attract more attention: hey whats that guy on a bike going to the old abandoned industrial site for?
if youre exploring by satellite images only if there is an alternate way you can plan one trip in person to verify if there is only one way in as you say
going hi-vis and pretending to be a water company employee or building inspector gets thrown around a lot more than it actually gets used I think first you have to look the part go ahead dress up, then stand in front of a mirror, would you believe you? and if challenged by these people that look like they want to shoot you, will your story hold up?
