I collect all things Stephen King when I can. I especially love his short stories. Four Seasons, Night Shift, Nightmares & Dreamscapes, Four Past Midnight all contain some of my favorite King stories. But my all time favorite King, the one that stands out from the rest, the one that haunts my dreams, is IT. Hands down one of the best books I have ever read. I had to remind myself to breathe at times while reading it. A work of art. *bows down to the King*

Yeah, can you believe that the whole sixth book happened, and you STILL don't know about susannah and the baby? wow. I cannot wait until the next one...but I don't see how he can possibly wrap it up in one more. I think it's impossible. Can't wait to see tho.

He doesn't outline any of his work before hand. He just sits down and 'lets it happen'. That's why his books sometimes end in weird places, or things go unresolved too long. (my only complaint, aside from the movie renditions)

I've only read the first two DT books, they're pretty good, but never really continued past that. No idea why, maybe it's time to go to the library...

I say that I'm not a huge King fan, but then I think about it and realize that I've read most of his stuff. The DT series is brilliant. Absolutely amazing, even though it kind of unravels at the end. It really goes off in a sort of different direction after 'Wolves'. Did anyone take the offer to stop reading there at the end, or did you all press on bravely?

Book 2 & 4, and 5 were my favorites, I think. I've been reading this series pretty much since it's inception. Well, that's a lie. I started reading them before book 3 came out, and waiting the YEARS between books was very frustrating, wasn't it? Now, suddenly, it's done. What a ride.

Noooo!

I do most of my reading for pleasure now that I'm in college.

Thank you to my library card.

Edit for Relevance: And yes, Dark Tower series=fabulous.
I've got the whole series sitting around here somewhere in a mix of paperbacks and hardcover. They're the sort of books that I can pick up when I'm out of books and start anywhere to read.

the dark tower books are probably my favorite series ever written. I'm just glad I didnt start reading them untill they all had already come out, I couldnt have stood the suspense. I love all of King's works, my favorites are probably The Bachman Books(collection of four books released under the Richard Bachman name), The Stand(finally read it earlier this year), and Blood and Smoke(Short story collection).

I thought that Insomnia was retarded, personally. I read it because of it being mentioned during the Dark Tower series, and I was sorely disappointed. Long and boring, with little or no bearing on the DT series.

**potential spoilers below**

I think King always envisioned all of his books being tied together by the DT series, though. Flagg / Walter / The Man in Black are a recurring character through all of his books, and at one point (book 4, I think) the Ka-Tet travels though a plague ravaged version of Earth, and there is a newspaper article that mentions 'Captain Tripps'. This is obviously an allusion to The Stand.

I believe that King always envisioned Mid World and the beams being the strings that tied all of the alternate universes and all of his works together, including the 'real' world.
