And I have a reliable Hyundai Pony, but seriously, taking a Touareg/Cayenne through some real off road terrain with water crossings and stuff? You'd have better luck taking a bath with a Blu-Ray player. And a better chance of the Blu-Ray player still working after.

They're high maintenance pieces of shit when they're driven by soccer moms, there's soooooooooo much to go wrong with them, especially when you're offroad and miles away from where a tow truck can get. They're nice to drive, yeah, but taking one down some real offroad trails would bankrupt the average Canadian after half a day with the shit that would break. I realize I've only worked on a few thousand of them but they're designed to be a big, powerful SUV to get you to the cottage and tow your boat to the launch and maybe your 911 to the track for a club weekend. Something that can crawl over rocks and drive through rivers on a regular basis doesn't have aluminum dual wishbone front suspension, 4 pot Brembos and an electronic parking brake.

when a hardcore Volkswagen guy tells you a Volkswagen is trash, perhaps you should take him seriously and believe what he says.

No kidding!

Honestly, I think I'm going to try and hold out and save for the 4runner, and if the Corolla decides to be a bitch and die before then, I'll have to see where I stand.

As for the Xterra, I have driven Brind's and it isn't bad, although I found the steering on it really loose. And I used to drive Ford F250's for work.

House I bought is coming with a 1986 Isuzu Trooper 2 door. I haven't had a chance to really go over it other than a glance but I think it's gonna be fun.

I like those. They're staggeringly bad, and a bastard to get parts for but they look cool.

My house was supposed to come with a Jaguar XJ6, but it was "stolen" the week before I moved in. After sitting in the driveway for 6 years... riiiiiight.

Isuzu Trooper I kind of like; would be a good candidate for the Cummins 3.5 re-engine.

They look cool, but they were a bastard to get parts for 15 years ago.
