The state of Minnesota used to operate many schools for the "feeble minded", or "imbeciles" as they were called in the day. A lot of the schools went through many name changes and some even acquired the title "asylum".

school owned and operated two different Farms. The North Farm and the South Farm. Some of the higher functioning occupants of the school were placed on these Farms. The South Farm was a colony of epileptics. It was established around 1914, and its use was discontinued sometime in the sixties. One of the barn buildings is still standing today, the cottage where they used to live has been reduced to a portion of foundation. The Cellar in the hill is still there. Many other foundations and Bricks can be found on the site. My favorite feature is the large retaining wall that used to sit out front of the cottage.
