in the past couple of weeks, I have noticed how kind of rundown my Cruze was getting. The damage from a deer strike back in 2013 is not aging well and it looks like there is rust forming behind the paint. The odometer is at 145,000 miles and I am just waiting with this impending doom for some big-ticket item to break and leave me stranded. Understand that the car still runs great, still drives great and has given me no real guff... but there is always that "is the fuel pump making a funny sound?"
"when is the water pump going to fail?"
"is the alternator getting weird?"

and getting stranded by the side of the road kind of terrifies me. So while I was out getting my oil changed yesterday, I was talking with one of the salesmen at the dealer, a guy named Bruce.
Bruce is one of those rare salesman that gives a shit about the people he is selling cars to... so make a long story short, with three payments left on my 2012 Chevy Cruze, I traded for a 2019 Chevy Sonic RS hatchback... and the color is the best part. It's called "Shock".

they went to get it today. I'll have it this afternoon or tomorrow morning. Signed the papers yesterday. It was over in Middlebury, Vermont at Denecker Chevrolet... they went to get it today. Did a dealer swap.

it's a 2019 Sonic RS hatchback... it's got everything but the automatic. It's a 6speed manual with all the gizmos and sunroof, 17" wheels and sport suspension. It was $21,000 out the door, but came down with different rebates and incentives. The name of the color is Shock and yes, it's a bit shocking. Thing is a ball to drive even on a wet road. This is just getting home... *edit- my Cruze was sold even before I had the plates off it. The service manager at the dealer knew how well the car was taken care of and bought it. Makes me feel good to be 'that guy' who everyone wants their car when they trade it in, even with the 145,000 miles on it.

the sonic only comes with the Cruze engine now, the 1.4L DOHC turbo. 138hp, 140-something lb-ft of torku. Last year was the last year for the old Opel 1.8L DOHC NA engine.

if anyone is paying attention, I bought mudflaps for the car. Why should anyone care? It's just that the RS model doesn't come with splashguards because of the silly lower cladding. I went through a company called RokBlokz out of Utah as they were the only company to make a splashguard for the car... they make the car look, angrier? Like it's about to go get into trouble on a rally stage or something. Also, I ordered green lugnuts yesterday. Why? Well, why not? Ironically, this year Sonic uses the same lugnut as a Cobalt. Hardy har har.

I have many.
I love the KHL and Russian jerseys because they are weird and no one knows what they are. My two favorite teams are Traktor Chelyabinsk and Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod.
