Gone through the phases here - YJ, to TJ and XJ, to JK. The last three were used, and essential, for several of our explores. Now I have a Mustang - that's not working out so well for explores. Visited a Nuke facility in Tenn; fortunately, it was on flat ground, still, slip sliding around in the muddy grass to get up close. I did put a trailer hitch on it for a bike rack though. Still, a Jeep is probably one of the best additions to an explorers repertoire of tools!

@cavemonkey good luck on the build!! post a pic at your first explore with it

One of my top priorities when buying my new vehicle was 4wd. Too many times, I found my self stuck in my Camry - having to get towed (or one time, just sleeping where I was stuck overnight, waiting for the mud to dry!). The Camry had some great advantages (most notably, gas mileage), but when I finally decided on a Jeep (Grand Cherokee), it was the best decision I could have made. I knew I would benefit from a vehicle that was off-road/4wd capable, but I had no idea how much of a difference this would make. I’m able to go to so many places I never could have even considered prior to my switch. For me, it was absolutely worth it and offsets the disadvantages hands down!
