so i've always had tacomas as a daily & winter driver... but always liked having a summer beater that was a bit more fun to drive.

in past 7ish years, i've gone through 2 ancient honda civics (bought both for like $500 and put a couple hundred bucks into to pass inspections), but yeah, looking to upgrade.

enter the toyota celica... my best friend had one in high school, loved driving it. have found a couple people selling them in my area, pretty cheap.

anyone familiar with this model, knowledgeable of what i should be looking at/be worried about? bad idea in general?

They were a decent car. Most of them were thrashed and ruined by younger owners.

I looked at it... body was in great shape, interior not so much (cig burns everywhere).

Was willing to overlook the interior stuff and fix up but I took it for a test drive (about 100 miles ) and it had eaten through almost 2 quarts of oil.
